Stress & Restless Sleep

Shirodhara and deep oil therapies for the wired-and-tired pattern: a settled mind, and the better sleep many guests report.

Dubai runs fast, and many of us run on four to six hours of interrupted sleep, a phone that never quite switches off, and a mind that starts composing emails at midnight. The wired-and-tired pattern, exhausted but unable to properly rest, is probably the single most common thread across everything we see at 22 Ayur.

Ayurveda's calming repertoire is its most famous export for a reason. These are therapies designed centuries before screens to do one thing exceptionally well: settle an overstimulated nervous system.

The overdrawn nervous system, classically read

Ayurveda describes this state as aggravated Vata: the quality of wind, excess movement, in the mind and senses. Racing thoughts, light fragmented sleep, restlessness and fatigue that rest does not repair are its signature. Screens late at night, irregular meals and constant novelty feed it daily.

The classical antidote is heavy, warm, rhythmic and repetitive: oil, warmth and steady sensory rhythm that give the nervous system nothing to react to, until it stops reacting.

The calming repertoire

Shirodhara is the definitive therapy: a continuous stream of warm oil moving slowly across the forehead, deeply settling for a stressed mind; many guests report better sleep in the nights that follow a course. Abhyangam with Scrub delivers the classical full-body warm oil massage, and Pizhichil raises it to a continuous stream of warm oil over the whole body, the most enveloping therapy in the repertoire. Ghritam Abhyangam works with medicated ghee for the deepest nourishment, and Siro Vasti holds warm oil over the crown for minds that will not slow down.

Plans usually run as short courses with simple evening-routine guidance between sessions: screens down earlier, warm food at regular hours, a consistent wind-down. The therapies open the door; the routine keeps it open.

Important to know

22 Ayur is a wellness clinic, not a hospital. Our therapies offer traditional, supportive care; they do not diagnose, cure or replace medical treatment, and we will always encourage you to see a medical doctor for diagnosed conditions, severe symptoms or anything sudden and unexplained. Every plan starts with an assessment, and our practitioners will tell you plainly what our care can and cannot do for your situation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a treatment for insomnia or anxiety?

We do not treat diagnosed sleep or mental health conditions; those belong with your doctor, and we will encourage you to see one where the picture suggests it. What our therapies offer is deep, traditional relaxation for a stressed mind, and many guests report sleeping better across a course.

How quickly will I feel a difference?

Most guests feel profoundly relaxed after the first Shirodhara; the steadier shift in sleep and daytime calm typically builds over a course of several sessions with the evening routine in place.

Which therapy should I start with?

Shirodhara is the usual first choice for a racing mind; a body that holds its stress as muscular tension often starts with Abhyangam or Pizhichil instead. The assessment sorts this in minutes.
