Panchakarma

The ultimate Ayurvedic detoxification programme, a multi-day journey of purification that resets your body, mind, and spirit at the deepest level.

Panchakarma, meaning 'five actions' in Sanskrit, is the crown jewel of Ayurvedic medicine. This comprehensive detoxification and rejuvenation programme combines five classical purification therapies tailored to your unique constitution and health needs. At 22 Ayur, our Panchakarma programme is designed and supervised by experienced Ayurvedic physicians who customize every aspect of the treatment. The programme follows a three-phase structure: Purvakarma (preparation) includes oil massage and steam therapy to loosen toxins; Pradhana Karma (main procedures) may include Vamana (therapeutic emesis), Virechana (purgation), Basti (medicated enema), Nasyam (nasal administration), and Raktamokshana (blood purification); Paschat Karma (post-treatment) includes dietary guidance and rejuvenation therapies to rebuild strength. Panchakarma is not merely a spa treatment; it is a profound healing journey. Over the course of multiple days, you will experience a systematic unwinding of accumulated toxins, stress, and imbalance. The programme is customized through pulse diagnosis and constitutional assessment. Many clients describe it as a turning point in their health, a complete reset that brings clarity, energy, and vitality they had forgotten was possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

A traditional Panchakarma programme runs 7-21 days depending on the depth of detoxification needed. At 22 Ayur, we offer customized programmes from 7 days. Each daily session is approximately 90 minutes, with dietary and lifestyle guidance throughout.

When performed by qualified Ayurvedic practitioners, Panchakarma is very safe. Our physicians conduct a thorough assessment before the programme and monitor your progress throughout. Certain procedures are contraindicated during pregnancy, acute illness, or for very elderly or very young individuals.

A specific Panchakarma diet called Pathya Ahara is prescribed, typically consisting of light, easy-to-digest foods like Khichdi (rice and lentil porridge), warm soups, and herbal teas. The diet is an essential part of the treatment and supports the detoxification process.

We recommend taking time off work during Panchakarma, especially during the main procedures. The body is undergoing deep cleansing and needs rest. Light activity is fine, but strenuous exercise and mental strain should be avoided.
